Another busy day at Prix Jeunesse International 2026! Day 4 included screening and discussing the fiction shows and shorts for 7-10-year-olds.
The evening brought a sharing of cultures of snacks and drinks that participants brought from all over the world. We brought buckeye candies, French Chewies made in New Richmond, Ohio, and BBQ Grippo’s potato chips! It was so much fun to try new foods and share stories with each other.
The evening ended with two info sessions: 1) How to build the next generation of high quality producers – The Taiwan Miracle, and 2) “For Us, No Planet B!”
It is truly amazing the development of children’s media production in Taiwan! The work coming from Taiwan is exceptional! Looking forward to seeing more from the Taiwan Miracle!
The second info session provided an update on the Share Pool for No Planet B and environmental media initiatives for children and youth. We made a small contribution to the first season of WeMe’s Nature World for the cloud episode, and signed up to make another contribution to season three on, you guessed it, birds!
We also learned about workshops that have been developed for 11-14-year-olds called “I have the right to a future!” Perfect timing with our upcoming Suitcase Screening of environmental children’s shows on June 30 at the Newport High School for elementary and intermediate aged children. Watch for more updates about that as well!
Today, too, we noticed commentary that had been posted about some of the environmental shows, particularly Animal City. Two comments from the German Youth jury really stood out from Animal City: 1) “I thought it was great that they wanted to help the birds.” and 2) “I liked that we learnt that the bird species is threatened with extinction.”
This gives us even more hope for Forest Calls 2.0 and the impact it will have on participants and the audience, both young and old.
