Seeking Musicians and Vocalist

Music has the unique power to translate the quiet struggle of endangered species into a deeply personal, visceral experience. Forest Calls is an ambitious transmedia initiative designed to give a powerful voice to our planet’s fragile ecosystems. By marrying an introspective, highly emotional original score with evocative narrative and Indigenous wisdom, we are creating a living, breathing acoustic bridge to amplify the global struggle for biodiversity before these vital natural voices and ancestral stories slip into silence forever.

This upcoming stage production, called “The Story of the ‘Akikiki”, represents the next evolutionary step of our journey, building on the national momentum of the documentary film When Silence Becomes the Song, which premiered on PBS in 2024. While the film documented the crisis of extinction on screen, this project takes the narrative directly to the public in a highly visible, physical space – translating a cinematic narrative into an intimate, deeply resonant live experience.

As a performing collaborator in this showcase, your artistry will serve as the emotional spine of a groundbreaking, multi-sensory performance at the Patricia Corbett Theater. This is a rare opportunity to perform an evocative, original score that does not merely sit in the background, but actively interacts with ancient and contemporary choreography, slam poetry, dynamic projection mapping, and advanced visual effects (VFX) in front of a live audience.

We are currently seeking collaborative, expressive instrumentalists and a classical vocalist to bring the original score by composer Louis-Gabriel Pothier to life on stage.

We are looking to fill the following roles:

  • Piano
  • Harp
  • Violin 1
  • Violin 2
  • Viola
  • Cello
  • Bass
  • Mezzo-Soprano
