‘Connect to Nature with Mill Creek Alliance’

Join us and Bennett Kottler (Project Director of Mill Creek Alliance) as we connect to nature at the Twin Creek Preserve.
Twin Creek Preserve is a wetland, wildlife, and flood control area located adjacent to Berke Recreation Fields. Located at the confluence of three streams where Beaver Run, and East Fork Mill Creek flow into the Mill Creek mainstream, the preserve provides critical stream and wetland habitat for a broad array of aquatic organisms and is home to thousands of native plants. Guests can enjoy nature and wildlife observation from multiple viewing points, including an observation deck and a walking trail with informative signage around the wetlands.
Our Guide
Bennett Kottler will lead the visit. Bennett has a long history of work in environmental protection, air quality planning, engineering, and remediation. He has worked as an environmental site assessor, consultant, instructor/trainer, urban forestry commission member, and professor of science education and environmental studies. Bennett earned B.A. in Biology from Boston University and both a Master’s and Ph.D. from Cornell University in Environmental Toxicology.

Meet at 12033 Best Place, Sharonville, OH.
The event will involve short talks and conversation at the pavilion followed by small group walks of the Preserve. There are several picnic tables at the pavilion which will have different stations to discuss the flora and fauna of the area, including sampling of pawpaw fruit.
Hawai’i biologists (Lizzy Baxter (KISC), Allie Cabrera (KFBRP), and Adriana Santacruz-Castro (MNA) will be present and share their own insights and experience, as it relates to nature conservation strategies and community engagement.
The Nature Walk will last until about 3:30pm.
