Social Justice Spaces for Children Honors Class – Fall 2026

This fall, Dr. Nancy Jennings, Dr. Laura Dell, and Dr. Sarah Schroeder will be teaching Social Justice Spaces for Children (CI 3036/COMM 3036) as an honors class in conjunction with “Forest Calls”.

Public spaces including children’s media have the power for transformation.

In this class, students will explore the ways meaning is socially constructed in public spaces and through storytelling for youth and how arts and sciences can come together to activate social connection with each other and with nature.

We will apply design thinking and learning theory to children’s media and create educational media and resources for children and young people.

Come discover the intersections between design and childhood development and put that knowledge into practice!

The class is offered on TuTh 2-3:20pm and is available for University Honors Students.  If space is still available, students not enrolled in the Honors Program may apply for the class.

For more information, contact Dr. Nancy Jennings (jenninna@ucmail.uc.edu), Dr. Laura Dell (dellla@ucmail.uc.edu) or Dr. Sarah Schroeder (schroesd@ucmail.uc.edu).
