Seeking Singer-Songwriter
We are now looking for a Cincinnati Tri-State area singer-songwriter to represent the mainland.
At its root, songwriting is an act of cultural memory, emotional truth, and place-based storytelling. ‘Forest Calls’ is an ambitious transmedia initiative that bridges art, Indigenous wisdom, and ecological conservation to safeguard our planet’s endangered ecosystems and cultural heritage. Following the national broadcast of our documentary film “When Silence Becomes the Song” on PBS, we are expanding our vision to the live stage – creating an immersive, multi-sensory gathering where original music leads the call for global biodiversity.
For our upcoming October showcase in Cincinnati, we are inviting an original singer-songwriter – or a compact musical ensemble – to weave their original music into our live production. Rather than performing an existing score, selected artist(s) will bring one of their own songs and creative identity to the stage, performing alongside contemporary dance, live slam poetry, dynamic projection mapping, and visual effects at the Patricia Corbett Theater.
We are seeking artists who write, own, and perform deeply felt original music that resonates with themes of land connection, natural harmony, resilience, or heritage.
What We Are Looking For
- Artist Profile: Solo Singer-Songwriter (ideal) or a small, self-contained band/ensemble.
- Original Repertoire: You must fully own and control the intellectual property (IP) and publishing rights for your music.
- Artist Priority: We are actively prioritizing Indigenous and First Nation artists whose music carries a strong connection to lineage, land, and cultural storytelling.
- Genre/Style: Open to acoustic, folk, roots, world, or contemporary original styles that translate with depth and authenticity in a live theater setting.
Timeline & Schedule
- Remote Collaboration & Planning: Beginning in August 2026 (conducted via Zoom or digital platforms).
- On-Site Rehearsal: In the morning of October 11th, 2026, at the Patricia Corbett Theater in Cincinnati.
- Live Performance: Scheduled for the afternoon of October 11th, 2026, performing live on stage.
